Shock as fired CSO goes nuts and hires robbers to steal from his former company
According to The PUNCH, an extremely heinous act has been perpetrated by a former chief security officer of a company in Sango-Ota, in the Ado-Odo/Ota Local Government Area of Ogun State.Three months after being fired, the individual apparently hired some robbers to target his former employer.
After the thieves he allegedly recruited were detained, the former CSO, whose identity was withheld and who was purportedly dismissed of his duties roughly three months ago, fled.
Five suspected robbers were detained by Ogun State Police Command men on Monday after they allegedly looted the business.
According to Abimbola Oyeyemi, the state's police public relations officer, the suspects Umar Haruna, Abbah Yahaya, Muritala Umar, Wale Fadeyi, and Segun Olofinmade were apprehended after receiving a tip.
According to Oyeyemi, the criminals were apprehended when police officers at the Sango divisional headquarters at around 2:30 in the morning got a distress call.
The PPRO reports that approximately 10 armed thieves brandishing cutlasses forced their way inside the Balita Company and stole motor engines the business is selling.
“Upon the distress call, the DPO Sango division, SP Saleh Dahiru, mobilized his men and moved into the area.
“On sighting the policemen, the hoodlums who came with a Mitsubishi Canter bus with registration number LSR 414 YF took to their heels but, they were chased and five amongst them were apprehended while others escaped.
“Preliminary investigation revealed that the robbery incident was masterminded by the former Chief Security officer of the company who was relieved of his duty about three months ago.
“The said former Chief security officer is presently on the run.
“Recovered from them are a Mitsubishi Canter bus loaded with ten motor engines and cutlasses.”
However, Oyeyemi said that Lanre Bankole, the commissioner of police, had ordered that the case be handed over to state criminal investigation departments for a covert probe.
According to the PPRO, the CP has also directed a large manhunt for the eluding former Chief Security Officer in an effort to apprehend him.
