Best school teacher gets 9 cups of beans, 2 tubers of yam and red oil as prize

After being chosen as the best teacher by his pupils, a teacher, was given nine cups of beans and two tubers of yam

According to MassMedia NG, Nwafor, who runs a private lesson center in addition to his job at the school where he works, was recognized for his exceptional commitment to duty after graduating students who all passed the West African Examination Council (WAEC) exam singled him out as their best teacher.

He was given agricultural presents in appreciation for his hard work, including nine cups of beans, two yam tubers, a bottle of red oil, and an envelope containing an undisclosed sum of money.

On Monday, August 15, TourGecko TV, an educational vlog that also offers content on travel and excursions, presented him with the prize in Owerri.

The platform's creator, Dr. Chinenye Nwabueze, stated that he chose to honor Nwafor in the greatest way he could in order to motivate him to continue the fantastic work he was doing.

Nwabueze, who worked as a teacher for a number of years before quitting, bemoaned the fact that, despite the demanding nature of their jobs, elementary and secondary school teachers did not receive the respect they deserved.

The majority of an individual's moulding occurs at these levels, he continued, thus instructors deserved to be recognized for their hard work.

According to him: “It is not about the items we gave as gift but all about recognizing good work. Just like Louis Nwafor, there are many teachers who are doing great works training our kids but they don’t get recognized. I said instead of leaving this young man like that, let me do something to show him we appreciate his good work. This man does not only teach students but he goes the extra mile to follow up their studies, give them extra lessons and encourage them to do well. Graduating students the private school where he works all passed their WAEC exam. Though this is a result of joint effort by the entire teachers, Louis was singled out by the graduating students themselves as their best teacher. This award is a private affair of TourGecko TV and has nothing to do with the school where he teaches. We have been doing this on our own for a while, privately recognizing teachers who were going the extra mile in their schools to train their students.”

Nwafor expressed gratitude to TourGecko TV for the honor, saying that his students also deserved praise for their hard work in passing their exams.

He claimed that receiving this honor had motivated him to extend his commitment to his pupils' needs.
