The power of love lands man in police custody

The say the power of love is so great that it would make a man do things he would normally not do.

A man who wanted to impress his girlfriend with a splendid birthday party has landed himself in police trouble instead.

The love that Yakubu Usman, an armed robbery suspect arrested by policemen from the Kogi State Command, had for his girlfriend is what has landed him in trouble as he allegedly confessed that he joined a robbery gang so as to get money to throw a lavish party to celebrate her birthday.

Usman who said the pressure was on him as the lady had threatened to dump him if he could not give her money for the bash, led him into joining the syndicate.

“I was actually pushed to join this deadly gang because of Salamatu, my girlfriend, who is marking her birthday later this month.

I wanted to use part of the proceeds to organize a one-in-town birthday bash for her, simply because I wanted to impress her that I am a big boy.

You see, I am from a poor home, but I think I could use robbery to cover up my poverty. So, I tried to impress this babe, who actually felt I was one of the big boys in town.

But, I feel sorry for myself now, that I allowed her lust to bring me to this mess.

I now know that life itself has no meaning for a person behind the bars,” Usman said in tears.
