A dumb kidnapper who wrote his own phone number on the ransom note he gave his victims have been arrested.
The Delta State Police Command have arrested a young man who sought to make some fast money by indulging in kidnapping after he foolishly left a ransom note with his phone number boldly written on it at the crime scene.
The suspect, Sampson Elelegwu, from Agbor in Ika South Local Government Area of the state, had kidnapped a young girl (whose name is withheld for security reasons) from her house and left a note for her parents on how to pay him the ransom, giving them all the details including his phone number.
The parents of the girl handed over the note to the police who called the 'novice' kidnapper and gave him instructions on where to go and pick the ransom and he walked directly into the hands of operatives attached to Special Anti-Kidnapping Squad, at the command headquarters, Asaba.
The Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO), DSP Celestina Kalu, confirmed the arrest and said after the parents of the girl made a report, the squad swung into action, trailed the suspect with the phone number, 08064724929, and arrested the dumb kidnapper.
