The manager of a nude club in Ebonyi State has challenged the state government on the closure of the club saying she creates jobs for girls who dance naked.
Chineye Okorie, the manager of Brifina Garden Hotel, one of the most notorious nude clubs in Ebonyi State, has come out to challenge the state government's orders that such clubs be closed down, claiming that she creates employment for the strippers that dance naked in her club by paying them between N10, 000 and N15, 000.
The Governor of the State, Dave Umahi had earlier ordered his Senior Special Assistant on Security, Ali Odefa, to make sure clubs that promote pornography, prostitution, sodomy and sales of illicit substances, be closed down if they refuse to comply with directives to tone down their activities but Brifina, located Waterworks Road, Abakaliki, proved adamant, forcing it to be sealed.
But Okorie has frowned at the move by the government, citing her club's job creation as the reason for disobeying the orders.
Reacting to the closure, Okorie said the hotel was for entertaining people as she used to pay each of the nude performers N10,000 on Wednesdays and N15,000 to dance naked on Friday nights.
“This is Nigeria. Anybody can go for any employment so long as the job can pay. This is someone’s business.
Someone is feeding from this and the right thing needs to be done.”
